This is a test that allows for the diagnosis of sleep problems in children, such as sleep apnea syndrome. In the laboratory, it is also possible to adapt devices such as Positive Airway Pressure (NCPAP) or High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC).

Here are the instructions for those being tested in the laboratory:

On the night of the test, you should arrive at the designated time (usually 8:00 PM), after having dinner and showering at home. You should bring a referral letter, a commitment from your health fund, and comfortable sleepwear. For younger children, parents should bring all necessary items for their needs throughout the night, such as diapers, pacifiers, bottles, and milk. The sleep laboratory provides bedding, but if the patient feels more comfortable with their own blanket and pillow from home, it is definitely recommended to bring them. Bringing familiar items from home may create a sense of comfort. For younger children, in addition to a blanket and pillow, it is advisable to bring favorite toys and books.

Upon arrival at the sleep laboratory, the patient (or their parents) will be asked to fill out forms and questionnaires. Then, they will be asked to prepare for sleep in the assigned room. When the patient is ready, the technician will prepare them for the test. These preparations include attaching electrodes and sensors to the head, face, legs, and body. None of the sensors are invasive. The patient might feel slight discomfort, but the procedure is not painful. After the technician verifies that everything is functioning properly, the patient can sleep until the morning. The accompanying parent will be allowed to sleep next to the child.
