Pediatric Orthopedic Unit

The Pediatric Orthopedic Unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center treats a variety of orthopedic issues in children from birth to adolescence.

Treating orthopedic problems in children requires a prolonged and open relationship between the medical team and the family. The team believes in a humane approach, taking into account the child's concerns and the parents' desire for full information before deciding on the treatment plan. Parents are encouraged to read about their child's medical condition, ask questions, and consult with other specialists if they wish. The main problems for which children come to us for diagnosis and treatment include:

• Limb fractures (bone fractures, tendon injuries, muscle injuries, joint injuries)
• Skeletal and muscular developmental problems
• Nervous system issues in the limbs
• Congenital problems

In addition, the clinic provides consulting services for pediatric neurology, limb injuries, and other pediatric issues.

Treatments

All standard treatments such as splints, cast application, suture removal, and pin removal are performed during the clinic visit. The clinic also provides the option of applying a plastic cast, which can be purchased at the hospital store free of charge.

Treatments that require sedation (anesthesia) are conducted in collaboration with the Pediatric Day Hospital. Pediatric orthopedics
