The Institute of Paediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition at Shaare Zedek Medical Center is one of the two largest of its kind in Israel and includes several excellence centers for treating children with IBD (mainly Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis), liver and pancreas diseases, celiac, nutrition, eating disorders and failure to thrive in infants, and food allergies. Our physicians use innovative, minimally invasive endoscopic diagnosis and treatment methods which guarantee accurate results. The institute's laboratory services patients from all over Israel and offers a variety of advanced diagnosis and monitoring tests. At the same time our research unit leads national and international studies to understand the causes of IBD and develop new treatments. The institute's physicians treat each year over 6,000 children and perform over 1400 endoscopies.
In addition to the units detailed above, the institute offers a counseling clinic that treats a range of pediatric gastro issues, both for outpatients and for the various pediatric departments in the hospital, including ER Children, NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), Pediatric Intensive Care, Pediatric Department, Pediatric Dialysis, Pediatric Surgery, Neurology.
