Clever at Night

Many teenagers adopt an unhealthy lifestyle during the summer: they switch their day and night routines, consume unhealthy food, and spend excessive time in front of screens emitting radiation. Late-night activities disrupt the balance, increase alcohol consumption, and drug use, leading to physical and emotional health risks.

Engage in open conversations with your children and emphasize the dangers associated with late-night activities, including leading and being in irresponsible behavior in dangerous places, smoking, and alcohol consumption. Stress the importance of responsible and cautious driving for their safety and the safety of others.

Not Interested in Sleeping

Children, especially teenagers, tend to go to bed late and wake up late during the summer vacation. Adequate and regular sleep is essential for proper development in children and teenagers. Dr. Floris Levi-Hadmi, the director of a children's day hospital and the head of the pediatric endocrinology unit, explains:

• Hormones in our body are released according to our sleep and wakefulness cycles, influenced by the light-dark cycle. Frequent changes in sleep patterns and especially sleep deprivation may disrupt hormone secretion and lead to various body disorders, such as obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and more.

• It's not necessary to wake up at 7-8 am during summer vacation; you can wake up at 9:00 am. However, if you wake up at 2:00-3:00 pm, most of the day is already gone, and you've missed it!
