Breast Oncology Unit

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Israel and the Western world. Over 5,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually in Israel. The Breast Oncology Unit provides personalized multi-disciplinary collaborative care delivered by a dedicated team of breast cancer specialists focused on providing the best available standard of care together with addressing individual patients’ needs.

Every stage in the management of the disease requires special and coordinated attention – from screening and diagnosis through treatment and then survivorship. Our comprehensive program includes outstanding patient care that is timely and professional and spans clinical, psychosocial and lifestyle needs. The medical oncology team work alongside the breast surgeons, plastic surgeons, pathologists, radiologists, radiation oncologists, nurses, social workers, and clinical research staff to provide evidenced based patient centered care. Additionally, women are being cared for by a coordinator nurse from the breast unit .

When chemotherapy is indicated “Cold Cap” (scalp cooling system) is available to reduce the change of hair loss.

Coordinating with gynecology department and Fertility and IVF unit to address the full range of reproductive issues that may arise from fertility preservation, through to supporting pregnancy after breast cancer, managing breast cancer diagnosed during pregnancy and management of menopausal symptoms secondary to treatment, is also an important part of the care we offer.

We are also proud to provide The Talya Center for Young Women with Breast Cancer, our program dedicated to young women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.


Our patients are referred to Genetic Consulting to identify and address hereditary factors, which may tailor treatment and surveillance. For BRCA carriers, NOGA clinic is a unique clinic that provides concentrated and coordinated, multi-disciplinary and up-to-date surveillance in only two visits per-year.

The Breast Cancer Unit also has a research program, with collaboration with other centers all over the world. The activity in clinical trials provide accessibility to innovated treatments and improve our ability to diagnose, treat and cure women with breast cancer.
