The time window for performing cerebral angiography in a patient experiencing a cerebral infarction is up to six hours. If too much time passes, opening the patient's artery may lead to cerebral hemorrhage with significant risk. However, this time window can be flexible using imaging technologies such as MRI.

With this examination, it is possible to identify which parts of the brain are damaged, assess the extent of the damage, and determine if there is salvageable brain tissue. In some cases, thrombectomy may still be performed.

After undergoing a cerebral infarction, the patient will be hospitalized for 24 hours after the thrombectomy, under close monitoring in the Neurology Intensive Care Unit. Approximately 60% of patients return to full functionality after three months, depending on the affected area and the severity of the damage.
