The Vascular Surgery Unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center provides a variety of treatments for arterial and venous problems:
- Common carotid artery surgery, in cases of severe stenosis.
- Endo-vascular treatments (compose approx. 80% of the unit's work). The unit pioneered the use of these treatments, aimed at dilatation of the arteries in the extremities, in Israel. the procedure is done under local nesthesia and requires a short 24-hour hospital stay.
We also specialize in endo-vascular treatments of aorta aneurysms with optimal results that are on par with the leading medical center in Europe and the USA. - Bypasses of the aorta and the limb arteries, regardless of the artery's size.
- Treatment for a wide range of venous problems, including innovative laser treatments and radio wave treatments for venous insufficiency.
The unit also has two outpatient clinics each week. The clinics offer follow-ups after ando-vascular procedures and unique treatments for chronic venous ulcers.
In addition, the unit operates a Vascular Institute, under the direction of Dr. David Shemesh, where all non-invasive examinations are performed. The institute has two sophisticated duplex devices operated by five trained technicians. The test results are interpreted by Dr. Shemesh. The institute services patients from the entire Jerusalem area.
