The air dynamic test assesses the function of the lower urinary tract (including the bladder and urethra) in terms of pressures, volumes, and flow. This test is necessary to accurately diagnose the nature and type of the problem causing urinary incontinence (uncontrolled loss of urine), in order to tailor treatment that will reduce limitations in activity and impact on quality of life. To measure pressure in the bladder, a catheter is inserted into the bladder for filling and measuring pressure inside it using sensors located on the catheter. Additionally, a narrower catheter is inserted into the rectum to measure pressure intra-abdominally.

This is a diagnostic procedure that allows for a thorough examination of the urethra and the urinary bladder.

During the procedure, various disease conditions and urinary system disorders can be diagnosed, such as growths (tumors and polyps), blockages in the urinary tract, recurrent urinary tract infections, causes of burning during urination, causes of blood in the urine (hematuria), follow-up after removal of growths, and treatment of bladder growths.

The test aids in reaching a medical diagnosis and tailoring the appropriate treatment. In some cases, different treatments such as dilation of the urethra and removal of small growths can be performed during the procedure.

Diagnostic imaging provides a detailed view of the internal structure and function of organs through the use of sound waves. Doppler ultrasound is used in situations where there is a blood flow problem, both internal and external, with the goal of identifying changes in blood flow patterns to determine appropriate treatment. Penile Doppler ultrasound is one of the functional tests that involves examining the male reproductive organ. To conduct this test, an erection is induced through injection. This injection causes the arteries to dilate, increasing blood flow. Subsequently, a physician scans the area using a probe, which reveals the velocity of blood flow both internally and externally, transmitting the flow data directly to a computer.

This is a test used for imaging the anus, rectal dome, and pelvic floor muscles using ultrasound (high-frequency sound waves). Through this test, it's possible to assess muscle function, diagnose muscle tears, detect fistulas (abnormal connections between different spaces), abscesses, lesions, and more.

The test is performed with the assistance of a transrectal ultrasound probe, which is inserted through the anus. Using this probe, the physician observes images on a screen of the rectal dome and pelvic floor muscles. Moreover, with the help of TRUS (Transrectal Ultrasound), most tests on the pelvic floor can be conducted, including assessments in cases where there is suspicion of abnormalities.

Performing a biopsy of the prostate involves the insertion of a fine needle into the prostate gland to sample tiny pieces of tissue (samples). This procedure is carried out through the anus under the guidance of transrectal ultrasound (TRUS - Trans Rectal Ultra Sound).

Prostate biopsies are conducted to confirm or rule out the presence of cancerous growths in the prostate gland.

This is a technique through which individuals learn to identify and recognize the muscles that can control their changing patterns. Muscle contraction is aimed at preventing urine leakage, while relaxation is intended to enable proper emptying of the bladder.

Flushing the Urinary Bladder with MITOMYCIN C:

Mitomycin C is a chemotherapeutic drug that kills growth cells by direct contact with the inner lining of the bladder. It is effective in treating certain growths, especially in preventing their recurrence. The drug is administered for growths that tend to return, for the treatment of CIS-type growths, for cases where there is residual growth that cannot be removed, or for patients who cannot receive B.C.G. ONCOTICE, which was previously used for vaccination against tuberculosis and is now used for bladder cancer treatment through flushing.

Flushing the Urinary Bladder with BCG:

BCG is a solution containing a weakened form of bovine tuberculosis bacteria called Bacillus Calmette-Guerin.

Originally used as a vaccine for tuberculosis, further research found that the vaccine is also effective for treating some bladder growths. The device stimulates the immune system to destroy cancer cells in the bladder. The treatment is not suitable for those taking medications that affect the immune system or steroids. It is intended for superficial growths and not those that have invaded muscle. Its goal is to reduce the risk of growth progression and recurrence.

Flushing the Urinary Bladder with Heated MITOMYCIN C (SYNERGO):

Synergo is a unique technology that combines localized heating of the bladder lining (hyperthermia) with simultaneous cyclic flushing of Mitomycin C. The Synergo system heats the bladder lining through a radio wave-emitting antenna.

The treatment is intended for superficial bladder growths to reduce the likelihood of recurrence after surgical removal. The treatment lasts about an hour, after which you can return to your daily routine.

Removal of Catheterization:

A fixed catheter to the bladder is often installed due to urinary retention.

After a period of urinating through the catheter, an attempt to discontinue catheter use is a decision made by a treating doctor or urologist. If you can urinate independently, the catheter will be removed, allowing you to void urine on your own.

After the nurse removes the catheter, she will ensure that you can void urine without difficulty and may use an ultrasound device (BLADDER SCAN) to check for residual urine. If relevant, the catheter will be reinserted and you will be referred back to the treating doctor for further management.
