Inflammatory Bowel Diseases (IBD) Unit

The IBD Unit at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center enjoys the benefits of a multi-disciplinary team, including gastroenterologists, surgeons specializing in the digestive system, radiologists, pathologists, gynecologists, nurses, a dietician and a psychologist. 
The team aims to provide the patient with the most appropriate drugs treatment with the aim of curtailing the disease long-term, even in the most complex situations. In some cases, surgery may be necessary, such as Bowel-Sparing or Sphincter-Sparing Surgery.
The Unit prides itself on accompanying each patient and providing care and support throughout the process. Patients and their families can talk to a Coordinating Clinical Nurse, who addresses all questions and makes the connection with the medical staff.
In addition, the Unit runs conventions and workshops to inform and update you about the latest techniques and treatments. These events are also designed to give IBD sufferers the tools to be able to enjoy life, despite the disease, through all stages of their lives.
