Gynecomastia surgeries – Male breast tissue

Many men suffer from a condition called gynecomastia, which is essentially an enlargement of the breast tissue or excess fat (unilateral or bilateral) caused by various factors. In some cases, this condition begins with the onset of puberty, while in others, it appears at later stages. Sometimes, the discrepancy from the conventional perception of a masculine chest can lead to body image issues and a decrease in self-confidence.

The Department of Plastic Surgery offers surgeries to correct gynecomastia and improve the appearance of the chest. Similar to other procedures in the department, patients here also receive the professional care of the department and the entire hospital. All surgeries are performed following a comprehensive evaluation by one of the department's specialists, endocrine tests (tests that examine hormone production and balance in the body), and ultrasound examinations.

The gynecomastia surgery itself can be performed through liposuction of fatty tissue or through an incision around the areola to remove the breast tissue. In more complex cases, where there is excess skin, larger incisions in the chest area may be necessary. Generally, the healing process is relatively short, and within a few weeks, most patients return to their regular routines.
