Hematology Hospitalization

Department

In the Hematology Department's inpatient unit, we admit patients who require bone marrow transplantation, patients with hematological malignancies receiving intensive chemotherapy (such as acute leukemia and aggressive lymphoma), and also patients who developed complications after chemotherapy (such as fever and infections due to immunosuppression). Additionally, we admit patients with non-malignant hematological disorders, such as blood clotting disorders, autoimmune-related anemia, and more.

The patients admitted to the department are aged 18 and above, from Jerusalem and its surroundings, from all over the country, and even from abroad.

The department has 10 special isolation rooms equipped for the comfort of the patients and their families and prepared for extended stays. Each room includes a patient's bed, a chair, a table, storage cabinets, a shower room, and a restroom, as well as an extra bed for a companion, cable TV, a refrigerator, a microwave, and an electric kettle.

A kitchen is available in the department for the families of the patients to prepare light meals.

There is a treadmill in the department for patients who wish to engage in physical activity during their hospitalization.

Patients admitted for an extended period and their families receive not only medical treatment but also a variety of complementary treatments through the Yuri Stern Center for Holistic Support, such as touch therapy, body, and mind therapy, Chinese and Japanese acupuncture, rehabilitation treatments, and support groups.

Department Staff:
The department's staff is highly professional and includes doctors, trained and experienced nursing staff, a bone marrow transplantation coordinator, a dietitian, a physiotherapist, a medical psychologist, a social worker, a palliative care team, a spiritual care team, an administrative staff, and support personnel. Senior consultants in the field of infectious diseases are available at all times.

Visiting Hours:
Due to the significant immunosuppression suffered by our patients, we recommend that patients maintain social distancing and avoid exposure to a large number of people during their hospitalization and treatment. However, we allow the presence of a companion throughout the day. The companion can be changed according to arrangements and family availability for support. Nursing and medical staff are present in the department around the clock.
