About Shaare Zedek Medical Center's Imaging Division

Shaare Zedek is a large, multi-disciplinary medical center in Jerusalem, offering advanced services across various specialties in modern medicine.

The hospital is a major tertiary care facility, serving a significant portion of the treated population in the region. Working there is particularly captivating, providing medical trainees with abundant opportunities to gain rich and diverse clinical experience.

The Imaging Institute at Shaare Zedek has undergone significant development in recent years, including the acquisition of state-of-the-art imaging equipment and innovative technologies. The department has recruited experts with extensive knowledge in various imaging fields, many of whom have undergone fellowships both in Israel and abroad, specializing in different subfields. There is also a trend towards implementing novel imaging techniques in various areas, such as MRI contrast studies, using ultrasound contrast agents, and applying artificial intelligence technologies.

The workload at the institute is substantial, meeting both Israeli and international standards, with around 250,000 imaging tests performed annually. The Imaging Department currently employs approximately 110 staff members, including 24 senior physicians, most of whom are graduates of fellowships in different sub-specialties, both locally and internationally. Additionally, there are around 12-14 residents who benefit from a diverse exposure and structured training program.

The department is well-equipped with world-class technology, including 2 MRI machines, 3 CT scanners, ultrasound rooms, digital radiography, and 2 angiography suites for interventional radiology procedures.

Adhering to advanced medical standards, the Imaging Department has a satellite facility at the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Malha, which includes an advanced CT scanner, X-ray, and ultrasound rooms, providing imaging services for urgent needs 24/7.

Other specialized units at the Imaging Institute include angiography (including complex interventional procedures), pediatric imaging, neuroradiology, ultrasound (including daily interventional procedures such as biopsies and aspirations), breast imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, chest and cardiac imaging, and abdominal and pelvic imaging.
