Accumulation of fluid in soft tissues or joints as a result of infection or tissue injury can be drained and aspirated using ultrasound guidance. Additionally, cysts that develop near joints and cause pain and limited mobility can also be punctured during this procedure.

During the procedure, the patient lies on a bed in the ultrasound facility, and with a sterile technique and local anesthesia of the area, a very small needle is inserted to drain the accumulated fluid. In cases of cysts causing pain, a small amount of steroid is injected for pain relief. No special preparation is required from the patient. The procedure is very fast (a few minutes) and safe, and the patient is discharged immediately after completion.

Ultrasound-guided drainage and aspiration offer precise targeting of the affected area, allowing for effective removal of the accumulated fluid or cysts, which can significantly alleviate pain and improve joint mobility. This procedure is commonly used in medical settings to address various soft tissue and joint-related issues.
