MRI examination

instructions for patients

Please note: The MRI Institute at Shaare Zedek Medical Center is one of the few centers in the country that performs examinations for individuals with a pacemaker. You can read more here about the examination for those with a pacemaker.

Patients above the age of 60, who require the use of contrast material, are requested to bring kidney function results from the past six months.

On the day of the examination, please arrive on time and bring a commitment form or alternative payment method.

Before the examination, you will be asked to fill out a metal form in which you confirm that there are no metal parts in your body. It is also advisable to minimize metal items such as jewelry and other valuables, as you will be asked to leave them in the preparation room.

After filling out the form, the radiographer will accompany you to the preparation room, where you will be asked to change clothes and remove all foreign objects from your body.

If your examination requires a contrast material, you will be connected to a syringe for the injection.

Then, you will be taken to the MRI room. The MRI machine makes noise, so we have prepared a wide selection of music styles in advance, and you can ask the radiographer to play background music during the examination.

Before the actual examination begins, you will be given a pressure button. If at any point during the examination you feel uncomfortable, press the button. The radiographer will stop the examination, and you can communicate the issue. If necessary, you will receive assistance.

The examination itself lasts about half an hour, and at the end, you will receive a disk with all the images.

For parents: We have a play device that simulates the MRI machine and allows children to prepare for the examination. You can request to see it before the examination begins.
