Body Composition Test

A quick and easy-to-do test enables you to discover your Body Fat Percentage (BFP) and keep track of your body composition balance throughout the entire weight loss process. This monitoring process is essential for correct and healthy weight loss. It is also important for those who are physically active and want to change their body composition (fat mass reduction, muscle mass increase).


Why is it important to test body composition?

The concept of body composition refers to two main components: fat tissue and lean body mass (muscles, bones, etc.). When body fat percentage goes beyond the normal range, the risk of developing health problems increases, and this also has negative implications on issues such as aesthetics and athletic fitness. Reducing mass from fat tissue generates healthy weight loss. On the other hand, loss of lean body tissue is detrimental to health and may even cause bodily damage. Therefore, it is not sufficient to monitor the changes in overall body weight, since it is not always possible to draw conclusions about your state of health.

Regular weighing provides information on total body weight, but does not relate to body composition. In order to lose weight in a safe and effective manner, it is important to conduct a body composition test and thus engage in orderly and controlled BFP monitoring.

How do we conduct the test?

There are several methods for evaluating body composition. The Sports Medicine Center uses two methods depending on the subject's personal data. One method to calculate BFP is to measure body composition using a caliper that measures the thickness of the subcutaneous fat folds. The second method tests electrical conductivity determined by the fluid balance in the body. This method is used to estimate the total volume of water in the body, according to which lean body mass is visible. We use the lean body mass to calculate the amount of fat and BFP. This is a quick, effective and safe test, and involves no effort on the part of the subject. The test results will allow our specialists to tailor a weight loss plan for you according to your specific body composition, and of course to monitor the process more effectively.
